Award winning airline launched Amsterdam flights

QATAR AIRWAYS MAKES WAVES AGAIN

(Posted 18th June 2015)

Following soon after Qatar Airways put in a mega appearance at the Paris Air Show, when the award winning airline showcased five of their latest aircraft among them the Airbus A350XWB, did news emerge that Skytrax in their latest rankings has once again named Qatar Airways as the ‘World Airline of the Year’ for the third time.

In addition did the airline also bag ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’ and, no surprise there ‘Best Business Class Airline Seat’.

Said Group CEO Mr. Akbar Al Baker in Paris where Skytrax held their annual award ceremony: ‘I am honoured to lead an airline that has paved such an accomplished path to excellence, and innovation, demonstrating the team’s unwavering pride in their work and the experience provided to each of our passengers. Becoming an award-winning airline takes dedication and passion – and retaining such a ranking takes commitment, which I thank each and every team member at Qatar Airways for. Our passengers are at the heart of everything we do at Qatar Airways, and we are very proud to be recognised by them and to receive these three Skytrax awards. These accolades reflect our passengers’ satisfaction; they choose to fly with a five-star airline and today they have chosen Qatar Airways as the World’s Best Airline for the third time. Qatar Airways strives to offer the best travel experience for its guests across our entire global network of 147 destinations, with a commitment to providing quality services to each and every one of our passengers’.

That all not enough though did Qatar Airways yesterday launch their long awaited flights from Doha to Amsterdam, initially operating six days a week with the exception of Tuesdays although going daily is only a matter of time.

The service is operated by a Boeing B787 Dreamliner, and passengers from in particular Entebbe and Kigali, two of the airline’s East Africa destinations, will no doubt welcome the launch as one of the competing airlines on the route from Uganda and Rwanda to Amsterdam has reportedly cut back flights to just four a week, from daily services offered just a few months ago. Qatar Airways also operates double daily flights to Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, a daily service to Kilimanjaro International and to the Spice Island of Zanzibar.

In a related development was it also learned that Qatar Airways has broken new ground again with the launch of an exclusive premium service from Doha to Jeddah. The fourty seater Airbus A319, offering full flatbed seats in this configuration, will be added to the already 14 flights per week, raising the number to 21 services overall both ways. This is a mirror image service to the existing daily flight between Doha and London Heathrow, where the same aircraft type operates an exclusive premium class service for over a year already.
