Beatrice man jailed 9 years for illegal ivory possession

A 42?year?old man from Beatrice has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of unlawfully possessing raw, unmarked ivory. Fradreck Magwere was convicted by the Harare Magistrates’ Court following his arrest in a police sting operation conducted on 8 January 2026. According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), detectives acted on a tip?off and posed as potential buyers at the Southlea Park turn?off.
