A Cessna 172L Skyhawk training aircraft, shortly after taking off from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, apparently crashed into Nairobi National Park.
The aircraft, registered as 5Y-BWE, took off shortly after midday with reportedly 4 on board, a pilot and three trainees. None of them was seriously injured according to latest information just received from Nairobi.
Fire and rescue services from Wilson Airport were immediately deployed to the accident site and took those on board to a nearby hospital for medical check ups.
The aircraft, according to the same source, is badly damaged.
An air accident investigation is going underway to establish the cause of the crash.
