15 PERCENT RISE IN PASSENGER NUMBERS MAKES #BRUSSELSAIRLINES TOP PERFORMER IN THE LUFTHANSA GROUP
(Posted 11th November 2017)
Figures don’t lie goes the saying and a 3.5 percent rise in flights, a 15.1 percent rise in passenger numbers and a rise of 3.9 percent in load factors is as impressive as it comes in the challenging world of aviation.
Vastly improved results in October 2017 across the board have now paved the way for a record breaking year for Brussels Airlines.
Thanks to the cooperation with Thomas Cook, for whom Brussels Airlines is the main airline partner in Belgium since the 28th of October, several new destinations were launched at the end of October, when inaugural flights to Cape Verde, Egypt, Tunisia and the Canary Islands Lanzarote and Fuerteventura took place. More new destinations will be added in due course with yet more come the summer schedule in 2018.

However, the very significant passenger growth of 15.1% cannot be attributed and explained by these new destinations alone, as the increase in passenger numbers (+15.1%) is significantly higher than the growth in the number of flights (+3.5%.).
The transported cargo volume also recorded growth rates in October. The Cargo Load Factor increased by 11.4 percentage points compared to October 2016. The transported volumes, expressed in Revenue Ton Kilometer, increased by as much as 20.1%.
In these figures, the passenger results of charter flights carried out by Brussels Airlines in October 2017 for travel organizations are not included.
Passenger numbers in Africa rose by 11 percent, justifying the airline’s decision to raise the number of flights between Brussels and Entebbe in December to 7 per week, up from the present 5 per week. At the time will then one of those added Entebbe frequencies route via #Bujumbura #Burundi while the other six will route via #Kigali #Rwanda.
