MAJOR GAINS FOR BRUSSELS AIRLINES IN NOVEMBER

Brussels Airlines, serving Uganda five times a week, Rwanda six times a week and Burundi once a week with Airbus A330 flights, has ended the month of November with major gains in passenger numbers and – important for the export industries in Uganda and Rwanda – a rise of almost a quarter in cargo uplifts.
In the month of November 608,095 passengers traveled on a Brussels Airlines flights, which is 54,088 or 9.8% more than the same period last year.
November is the first month of the aviation winter timetable and represented a strong passenger growth for Brussels Airlines.
On the European network, the airline registered a 10.8% growth, while the North American flights attracted 40.8% more passengers (mainly due to the addition of Toronto as a destination, which was not in the network in November last year). On the African network, the passenger numbers dropped slightly by 3% due to weakened demand as a result of slowing economies in some of the airline’s key destinations.
The overall seat load factor remained stable at 71.5%.
November was also a strong month for Brussels Airlines’ freight activity. The total transported freight volume increased by 23.6%. In addition to its scheduled flight activity, Brussels Airlines, besides scheduled services also operates many holiday and group flights for tour operators. Brussels Airlines, a member of the Lufthansa Group and a Star Alliance member, is the Belgian airline that offers the widest choice of flights to and from the capital of Europe through their hub at Brussels Airport. The company has more than 3.500 employees and presently operates 49 aircraft, offering some 300 flights daily. SN is the only carrier to connect the European capital to over 90 premium European and African destinations and in North America to New York JFK, Washington D.C. and Toronto. As from March 2017 will the airline also operate 5 weekly flights to Mumbai, India.
