The Belgian community in Uganda yesterday commemorated the ‘King’s Day’ national holiday, which actual day falls on November the 15th.
Since 1886, King’s Day (Koningsdag, Fête du Roi, Fest des Königs) has been celebrated on November 15th, which is the name day of both Leopold and Albert, the names chosen for the first four heirs to the Belgian throne.
King’s Day is the occasion to cherish Belgium’s unity in its multilingual, multicultural and multi-confessional diversity. It is also the moment to rejoice in the solidity of Belgium’s ties with its many partners abroad.
The Belgian Ambassador to Uganda hosted invited guests, Belgians resident in Uganda, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Ugandan Government officials and Ugandans, at the Embassy Residence in Kololo, where the Latitude Hotel had provided the party set up and catering while guests were enterained by a live band.
Brussels Airlines, a co-sponsor of the event, held a raffle during the evening and a lucky winner was to be gifted a return Premium Economy ticket to Brussels.
