Angama Amboseli, which officially opened in November 2023 in Kenya’s breath-taking Kimana Sanctuary overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro, is delighted to announce its full menu of on-site guest experiences in Kenya’s first community-owned conservancy. Promising conscious travellers an exhilarating array of immersive adventures through Amboseli, the Chyulu Hills and Tsavo West National Parks, Angama Amboseli invites its guests to immerse in an unforgettable journey of discovery.

PYJAMA SAFARI: A MORNING ADVENTURE LIKE NO OTHER
Wake up to the gentle rays of the African sun, roll out of bed and step directly into a safari vehicle for an early morning adventure. On a Pyjama Safari, guests will witness the mesmerising awakening of Mount Kilimanjaro from its slumber as the clouds slowly reveal her. Capture the moment with a fun photoshoot in your pyjamas on the vehicle with the highest free-standing mountain on Earth as a backdrop
NIGHT SAFARI: SECRETS OF THE NOCTURNAL WORLD
A new world comes to life as dusk descends on the Kimana Sanctuary. With exclusive traversing access, Angama Amboseli encourages guests to leave the lodge for a journey into the realm of nocturnal species — think bat-eared fox, bush babies, porcupine, nightjars, spring hares and more. Enjoy a night safari at dusk before dinner and putting children to sleep, or after dinner, searching for these elusive animals under a blanket of stars.
ART GALLERY & PAINTING KIT: CHANNEL YOUR INNER ARTIST
Featuring exclusive works of the Amboseli ecosystem by renowned Nairobi-based artist Sophie Walbeoffe, guests can immerse themselves in the artistic expression of this vibrant ecosystem. Each of the lodge’s ten guest suites comes equipped with a watercolour painting kit, a travelling easel and tips from Sophie, allowing guests to unleash their creativity from their private patio, on a game drive, or wherever they like.
THE MNARA: A SANCTUARY FOR SCENIC SERENITY AND INSPIRATION
Angama Amboseli’s iconic viewing tower, The Mnara, offers panoramic views of the sanctuary’s lush marshlands, where the last remaining Super Tusker elephants roam freely. Whether observing the wildlife below, admiring the majesty of Mount Kili or seeking solace in nature, The Mnara is the perfect escape from everyday life. Those looking to stay a little longer can indulge in a leisurely lunch or savour sundowners, and find inspiration for painting or reading with the tranquillity of the African wilderness.
WEAVING STUDIO: A CELEBRATION OF MAASAI CRAFTSMANSHIP
Embrace the creative culture and proud heritage of the Maasai at Angama Amboseli’s Weaving Studio, where neighboring women showcase their exceptional talents by weaving sisal and raffia into intricate baskets, jewellery and wall decor. Every item made here supports women’s empowerment as traditionally in Maasai culture, women were not allowed to work. Guests of the lodge can learn first-hand with weaving workshops with the Mamas or commission custom-made creations.
PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDIO: CAPTURING MOMENTS AND MEMORIES
Photography enthusiasts will delight at Angama Amboseli’s Photographic Studio to recreate the iconic scenes of Super Tuskers against the backdrop of Mount Kili. Offering rental equipment for professional-grade photography and prints, guests can book tutorials, guided photographic safaris to catch shots of wildlife in their natural habitats or photoshoots of guests to commemorate their safari.
CONSERVATION EXPERIENCES: GET IN WITH BIG LIFE
At Angama Amboseli, conservation is more than just a concept; it’s a reason for being. Through its partnership with Big Life Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to preserving the Greater Amboseli Ecosystem, guests can engage in meaningful conservation activities that leave a lasting impact. From visits to headquarters and observing control rooms to accompanying rangers on patrol, guests will gain a unique insight into the challenges and triumphs of wildlife conservation and human coexistence. The lodge also can arrange informative talks during sundowners, where experts share their knowledge and passion for protecting the continent’s precious natural heritage (donation required and cost dependent on experience).
Rates at Angama Amboseli start from USD 1,650 (currently approx. £1,330) per person per night on a full board basis, inclusive of guided safaris in Kimana and Amboseli, guided walks, laundry, WiFi, on-site guest experiences, and child-minding.
Angama Amboseli is easily accessible via daily Safarilink flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Sanctuary’s private airfield (four-person minimum), private charters to and from the Maasai Mara, or by car via a three-and-a-half hour drive from Nairobi.
