A Kenyan registered Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, 5Y-FDC, has burned to ashes at the landing field of Akobo near the border with Ethiopia.
While no likely cause for the accident was given did nevertheless details emerge that those on board escaped with their lives during the incident which already took place on Sunday – but due to the remoteness of the location did information only come to light now.
The aircraft’s production number MSN 208B1280 indicates an entry into service in 2007 and powered by a Pratt and Whitney Canada PTA6A engine.
More information is expected during the course of the day to ascertain if the aircraft had come in to land or was taking off and by which company or organization the aircraft was operated and chartered.
