Chobe Safari Lodge gets new General Manager

JAMES RATTOS NAMED NEW GENERAL MANAGER OF CHOBE SAFARI LODGE

(Posted 15th April 2017)

Ranked as the best lodge above the Nile Falls in Murchison Falls National Park, and definitely not because it is the only lodge in that part of the park, has Chobe Safari Lodge since its reopening in 2010 once again become a magnet for fishermen and fisherwomen but also for more ‘ordinary’ tourists.
Accessible with ease from an the all tarmac highway which connects Uganda’s capital Kampala with the northern town of Gulu is it a short distance from the park gate to the lodge, which incidentally has its own airstrip for direct connections from Kajjansi or Entebbe. The overall distance of 280 Km’s can be covered easily in four hours and the murram track into the park is only 14 kilometers allowing the use of regular saloon cars.
The lodge sits in a commanding location overlooking the white waters of the Nile at this stretch of river where the opposite river bank is lined with thick tree cover.
James Rattos has now been formally appointed as General Manager of what this correspondent some time ago named as the ‘Gem on the Nile‘ after already serving for several months as consultant for Marasa Africa, the owning and managing company from the stable of the very diverse Madhvani Group.
James has a long history in the hotel industry, still very well remembered as both Director of Food and Beverages and then Director of Sales and Marketing at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel. From there he moved to Kenya to manage the Enashipai Resort & Spa in Naivasha before returning to Kampala as General Manager of Le Chateau, La Patisserie and the Le Petit Village Hotel on Quality Hill.
It is a warm welcome for James at Chobe where no doubt soon a reunion will take place to review the lodge once again after several years and to see what can be added to the review published then, links available below.
