(Posted 13th April 2015)

Columbia University’s students and who is who on the academic and administrative staff were reportedly in awe when listening to one of Kenya’s great marketers, Chris Diaz. Considering that Columbia is one of the eight Ivy League universities in the United States, it certainly takes something to keep the audience captivated, as they are used to the world’s top scientists, politicians and captains of industry taking to the lectern, addressing topical issues and in many cases then answering searching questions.

Chris Diaz, presently best known as Kenya Airways’ Director of Marketing also serves on the Board of Directors of Brand Kenya, of Bidco and of the Imperial Group and is also a Director of the African Marketing Federation in other words a man of substance when it comes to his field of expertise.

According to some tweets seen from the lecture room and afterwards it was suggested that Chris came across to his audience as a very credible source from Africa when he talking about Africa’s challenges and opportunities as part of an organized Africa Forum by Columbia’s administration.

‘Humble, a good conversationalist presentation, representing Africa very well’ were some of the descriptions received and no doubt did he do his country Kenya, presently facing major challenges, a whole lot of good by projecting a positive outlook and oozing confidence of better days ahead.

Well done Chris for flying Kenya’s flag high and showing the world that it is indeed not all gloom and doom.
