German leisure airline Condor has made its direct Frankfurt-Seychelles service year-round, ending the roughly four-month seasonal gap on a route linking the island nation with its largest tourism source market.
The first flight following the seasonal break arrived at Seychelles International Airport last Saturday, September 19th, marking the start of continuous weekly operations between Frankfurt and the Indian Ocean archipelago.
Previously, Condor operated the route mainly during the northern winter season, with services generally suspended between mid-May and mid-September. The new schedule will maintain the direct connection throughout the year, including during months that have traditionally recorded lower visitor numbers.
Condor operates the service using an Airbus A330-900Neo aircraft, offering both business and economy class seating. Flights are currently scheduled to depart Frankfurt on Fridays and return from Seychelles on Saturdays.
Seychelles Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer, Vesna Raki?, described the move as an important development for the country’s air links.
“This is another positive development for Seychelles’ air connectivity. Germany is a core market for Seychelles, and Condor’s year-round service gives us a stronger platform to sustain demand throughout the year, including during traditionally quieter months, It also allows our tourism partners to plan ahead with greater confidence,”.
Germany remains Seychelles’ largest individual tourism source market. Last year the archipelago welcomed 55,497 German visitors.
Although this represented a slight decline from the 57,501 Germans who travelled to Seychelles in 2024, Germany still accounted for around 14% of the country’s record 398,840 visitor arrivals last year.
It placed the German market ahead of France, which recorded 41,409 visitors in 2025.
German visitors are also considered an important segment for Seychelles’ smaller tourism establishments, with tourism data indicating a preference among many travellers from the market for self-catering establishments and guesthouses.
The year-round connection could consequently provide more consistent access to the German market for accommodation establishments, destination management companies and other tourism businesses, particularly outside the traditional peak travel periods.
“We greatly value our partnership with Condor and welcome its continued commitment to the Seychelles route,” Raki? added.
Condor shares the Frankfurt-Seychelles route with Lufthansa’s leisure carrier Discover Airlines, which launched direct services between the two destinations in October 2025, increasing capacity between Seychelles and one of Europe’s major aviation hubs.
The expansion comes as Seychelles works to strengthen international air access amid a softer tourism performance in 2026.
Figures from the Seychelles National Bureau of Statistics show that 232,342 visitors arrived in the country during the first eight months of 2026, compared with 254,142 during the corresponding period of 2025, representing a decrease of around 8.6%, largely attributed to the upheavals caused by the war in the Middle East and subsequent flight cancellations and schedule disruptions.
Tourism remains a central pillar of Seychelles’ economy, making international air connectivity particularly important for the 115-island nation, which lies in the western Indian Ocean, around 1,600 kilometres off the coast of East Africa.
