LESS FLIGHTS BUT FLYING REGARDLESS TO KEEP UP BASIC LEVEL OF CONNECTIVITY FOR UGANDA

Uganda Airlines, hard hit by the current wave of new COVID19 infections as all other airlines flying to and from Entebbe, has earlier today reiterated that flights to all current destinations will continue, albeit at reduced frequencies.
The airline presently serves 10 destinations out of Entebbe and flights to Nairobi and Juba have been reduced from double daily to single daily services.
Notably does the airline continue to fly to both Mombasa – three times a week -and to Zanzibar – twice a week – giving lockdown weary Ugandans and Ugandan residents the option to fly to the coast and enjoy a few days off, leaving the lockdown hardships behind them.
While international tourists, at least those who still come to Uganda under the current demand killing health and safety regime, can travel – though they have to follow a load of added regulations – has domestic tourism been halted, negating any efforts of tourism marketeers to attract Ugandans and expatriates to the national parks and supporting the hospitality and travel industry.
ATCNews is monitoring the planned launch of flights to Dubai – under present circumstances likely to be delayed for some time as Uganda is on the UAE red list – as well as to Lusaka and Harare.
