Douala here we come – RwandAir adds Douala to growing network

RWANDAIR LAUNCHES COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS TO DOUALA

(Posted 29th March 2014)

RwandAir will next Monday launch their long awaited commercial flights from Kigali to Douala, a new route which the airline intends to serve 5 times a week using one of their new Bombardier CRJ900NextGen aircraft. The route will operate out of Kigali every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, leaving Rwanda’s capital at 13.45 hrs, a time which offers direct connections from Entebbe, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro but also from RwandAir’s Dubai flights.

With 7 business class and 68 economy class seats passengers from Douala to Kigali or beyond to the East African destinations, to South Africa or even to Dubai will enjoy the same comfort level as on the carrier’s larger Boeing B737-800’s and B737-700’s.

Douala is RwandAir’s 5th West Africa destination after Brazzaville, Libreville, Lagos and Accra and the widening of the airline’s footprint across the continent manifests the carrier’s desire to connect the continent through Kigali.

Only four weeks ago did RwandAir take delivery of another brand new aircraft, making their fleet one of the youngest in Africa, when a Bombardier Q400NextGen flew into Kigali. Even this turboprop aircraft offers a dual class configuration of 7 business and 60 economy class seats, replacing the single class Dash 8 and making sure that business and economy class are now available on all 7 aircraft in the fleet.

RwandAir’s next new destination will be Abidjan, to be launched later in the year, increasing the overall number of destinations to 17 and 6 in West Africa.
