#EastAfrican Safari Classic Rally – The Countdown is underway

(Posted 27th March 2023)

It’s foot down from here!
The countdown begins… 8 months to go for the 11th edition of the Greatest Rally in the world!

So, the March madness has started, we are out on route survey already and new members have joined our team.
Apologies for being so quiet, but the Team needed to appoint new people with a passion for rallying as well as an understanding of what is a unique event.
Meanwhile our IT team have been revamping our email addresses for ease of use, kindly see the table below and take note of the contact details.

THE TEAM
Our Chairman, Joey Ghose is busy with other businesses, but will play a key role in Marketing alongside our Board of Directors, so unless it is marketing related, please work with the rest of the Team or communicate with Gilly Dykes our Event Director.

We have a dedicated team to do recce, so consistency with the roadbook will be priority along with trying to increase distances as well as find new routes.  Tanzania, due to various reasons has been left out this year with the hope of running a mini-classic there next year.

Whilst Renzo Bernardi joins us as the Clerk of Course, Raju Chaggar has been contracted to prepare the roadbook along with our Safety Officer, Dash Patel.  Raju will also be one of the two deputy CoCs on the event alongside Qahir Rahim.

Qahir is also our new Rally Manager within the office, and we wish him every success in his new role. Ida Tallam is our “go to lady” and will be CRO on the event. Ida has a strong relationship with all our customers.

Our newly appointed Scrutineers are Musa Locho and Rob Gow. They will be responsible for verifying and approving technical waivers with Viren Goricha as a technical consultant to the team.

Also, a new member will join the Team in April, to solely handle your accommodation requests. Jen Dance has knowledge of Kenyan hotels but most importantly knows how rally teams work and can cater to your requests. Jen will be our other CRO during the rally itself.

Michael has been with Classic since November 2021 and will be available to assist with follow ups on entry payments and other financial related queries.

All of us are assisted by Winnie, Tony, and James who have various job roles.

PERSONAL PHOTO’S AND VIDEOS

WEBSITE

Our website is currently being revamped and updated. The rally is continuing its path as a carbon neutral event and is now offering a self-donation option to all. This is still a new initiative in Kenya and the Classic of 2021 was the first of its kind to run under the carbon credits programme.

FULL THROTTLE FORWARDS

So, there are exciting times ahead for us all and we hope that you find it an easier and more streamlined experience in 2023.  The previous team for the last Main, certainly raised the bar and we intend to emulate and go above and beyond in order to make this the Greatest Classic ever.
