Emirates in pole position as leading foreign airline to the Seychelles

EMIRATES’ DOUBLE DAILY SERVICE TO MAHE PUTS AIRLINE IN POLE POSITION

(Posted 29th October 2014)

For travelers from around the world, wanting to connect to the Seychelles islands, it is ‘Hello Tomorrow’ as of today, after Emirates has upped their hitherto 12 weekly flights to a full double daily schedule.

This now guarantees immediate connections from anywhere across Emirates’ global network to the Seychelles via their hub in Dubai with only that one stop. Dubai’s award winning national airline is now in pole position across the globe, offering the largest number of seats to the archipelago among any foreign airlines and hence making it the airline of choice for many visitors who are looking for that holiday of a lifetime.

The added weekly seats on the Airbus A340-500 in a three class configuration of 12 First Class, 42 Business Class and 204 Economy Class amount to 516, meeting requests by the Seychelles’ private sector which has been advocating for more air connections to help fill beds in news resorts and the many recently opened small hotels and guest houses owned and operated by Seychellois citizens who invested in the hospitality industry.

Besides the Savoy which opened earlier in the year and the recently opened Eden Blue there are two more resorts coming up along the stretch of beach beyond the Berjaya. Many of our people have invested their life savings in guest houses, holiday villas and self-catering chalets and to fill them we needed more seats. Emirates has made good of their promise and not let Seychelles down. The new flights offer over 2.000 additional seats every month which is very good news for us’ said a regular Victoria based source when confirming yesterday afternoon that Emirates had commenced the full double daily schedule. ‘Stepping up our operations to the archipelago will create more opportunities for the tourism industry and is the result of our joint efforts with the Ministry of Tourism of the Seychelles and the Seychelles Tourism Board to promote this amazing destination across our network. Double-daily flights will provide more flexibility to the travellers to more than 140 destinations across Emirates network’ said Oomar Ramtoola, Emirates Manager for the Indian Ocean Islands.

Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St. Ange, was swift to respond when he said: ‘On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and also on behalf of Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, we congratulate Emirates for moving to 14 weekly flights between Dubai and Seychelles. This double daily service will increase our connectivity to the world and will provide a needed boost to the tourism industry of our islands. We take this opportunity to thank Emirates for their belief in Seychelles as a serious tourism destination and one determined to work with its partners to further develop the island’s tourism industry. We wish Emirates continued success’.

The additional two flights EK707will depart Dubai at 08.45 hrs and arrive on Mahe at 13.25 hrs before returning as EK708, leaving the Seychelles at 23.50 hrs and landing at Dubai International Airport at 04.20 hrs the following day with full connectivity into the Emirates network.
