Ethiopian Airlines adds DHC Twin Otter’s to fleet to connect Addis with remote areas

Ethiopian Airlines has  taken delivery of the first of two DHC-6 Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft from De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited.

This first delivery marks the beginning of Ethiopian Airlines’ Twin Otter Classic 300-G fleet expansion, with a second aircraft scheduled for delivery later in 2026.

The aircraft will support the airline’s plans to strengthen domestic connectivity and improve access to remote communities and tourism destinations across Ethiopia forming part of the carrier’s strategy to enhance air services across regions with limited transport infrastructure.

Aircraft to support multiple mission types

 

The Twin Otter Classic 300-G will complement Ethiopian Airlines’ domestic operations and will be deployed across a range of specialised missions, including charter flights to tourism destinations, airport calibration, aerial surveys and air ambulance services.

The airline said the aircraft will help connect communities in geographically diverse and remote parts of the country while supporting tourism development and essential transport services.

Twin Otter designed for remote operations

 

The Twin Otter Classic 300-G is a small utility aircraft designed for challenging environments. It operates with a duo or single pilot. It boasts of a legendary short takeoff and landing (STOL) performance and greater payload capability with a modern Garmin G1000 integrated flight deck.
