EASA – European Union Aviation Safety Agency‘s numbers: 1.1 million tons of SAF in 2025, 2.8% against a 2% obligation, delivered to 121 airports. A real result for our supply chain.
The other numbers: 80% of it was used cooking oil, 85% of the feedstock was imported, and Europe’s synthetic fuel pipeline of around 50 projects has yet to reach a single FID.
Synthetic aviation fuel is still priced at close to twelve times fossil jet.
Today Uniper signed one of the largest e-SAF offtakes to date with Arcadia eFuels. Encouraging, and kudos to Arcadia eFuels. 40,000 tons a year covers less than a tenth of what the 2030 sub-mandate requires.
We have proved that mandates can pull in the molecules. We have not yet proved that we can finance the next generation of plants, or get their first small volumes into an aircraft tank.
