Fastjet Tanzania registers a Solenta Aviation ERJ145

FLEET CHANGE UNDERWAY AT FASTJET TANZANIA

(Posted 25th August 2017)

Information is coming in that Fastjet may add an ERJ145 jet aircraft to their fleet in Tanzania ahead of the introduction of two Embraer E190’s before phasing out the too large and too expensive to fly Airbus A319, the last one remaining on the airline’s fleet.
The ERJ145 is owned by Solenta Aviation in South Africa, which since early this year is one of Fastjet’s shareholders and has already seconded two of these jets to Fastjet Zimbabwe.
Fastjet Tanzania currently operates domestic flights within Tanzania from Dar es Salaam to Kilimanjaro, Mwanza and Mbeya – Zanzibar was discontinued some time ago – and flies regionally to Lusaka and Harare. Flights between Dar es Salaam and Johannesburg were ‘suspended‘ for lack of aircraft but the same was said for Nairobi and Entebbe which are now being served by other airlines again as Fastjet has reportedly lost the route rights.
