(Posted 12th September 2014)

The Lake Victoria Tourism Association is the main driver behind the inaugural Western Kenya Tourism, Culture & Heritage, Travel & Leisure Expo which will take place at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground in Kisumu between October 01st and 04th.

A number of key sponsors are supporting the event, starting with national airline Kenya Airways, the Kenya Tourism Board, the Wildlife Service and NTV, one of Kenya’s leading TV stations, among many others.

The main focus of the show is to more widely promote the tourism attractions of Western Kenya, especially those located the counties of Kisumu, Kakamega, Kericho, Homa Bay, Kisii, Siaya, Bungoma, Transzoia, Migori, Nandi, Bomet, Busia, Nyamira and Vihiga.

A series of special events are planned including a Gala Dinner and a VIP cruise on Lake Victoria though the main direction of the four day show is to promote domestic tourism by making fellow Kenyans from other parts of the country aware of the rich heritage, history and culture of Western Kenya and the national parks, forest and game reserves located there.

The Lake Victoria Tourism Association, formed in 2008, sees itself as a catalyst to promote the greater integration of Western Kenya into the mainstream tourism circuits. More information can be obtained by clicking on www.lvtakenya.org
