RwandAir plans to launch flights between Kigali and the Chinese city of Guangzhou by May this year, using an Airbus A330 with a three class configuration of Business, Premium Economy and Economy classes for the service.
The information was confirmed by Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye, the State Minister in charge of Transport, though details circulated on the grapevine for some time already.
It also confirms that the planned expansion of destinations – China flights were initially foreseen for last year already, continues.
Additional new destinations are also planned for the airline’s African network and New York still appears to be on the drawing board for later this year, though this may then require an additional wide bodied aircraft to sustain the schedule.
The new service – the number of flights per week are still to be confirmed – will offer travelers from across RwandAir’s African network and in particular from Eastern Africa an added choice of carrier to reach on of the world’s leading manufacturing and trading cities.
