Remembering ‘The Forgotten

James asked "Why should we Remember?" while speaking at the National Museums of Kenya on 11th June 2018. Click here to read the full text of James’s speech.

The British High Commissioner, representatives from the Australian and Zambian High Commissions and German Embassy, together with the media and invited guests were all in attendance despite the Budget being read and the kick off for the World Cup.

Thank you to Tsavo Heritage Foundation and Sarova Hotels for hosting this event.

New Memorial to the unnamed African Soldiers

Sarova Hotels have erected a Memorial at Mashoti in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, to the unnamed African Soldiers and Porters who died during the First World War. This, to our knowledge, is the first such memorial erected in the last 90 years to honour the Kenyans killed during the East African Campaign of the First World War.

Taita Exhibit Refurbishment

Work continues on the refurbishment of the First World War Exhibit at Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge. Sarova has kindly agreed to continue hosting the exhibit and provide the necessary security for the items donated.

New items to be displayed include a bed from the SMS Konigsberg (The bunk has very kindly been loaned to the exhibit) and a scale model of Mashoti Fort.

Thank you – To date, our crowdsourcing campaign with
M-Changa has raised Kshs51,781.
