For anyone planning to travel to Tanzania, there is an important new entry requirement to be aware of.
From **1 October 2026**, most foreign visitors entering **Mainland Tanzania** will be required to hold **Inbound Travel Insurance issued by the National Insurance Corporation (NIC)**.
The requirement applies to visitors arriving through airports, seaports and land borders.
**Key details for travellers:**
• Adult premium: **USD 44**
• Children aged 3–17: **50% discount**
• Infants aged 0–2: **Free**
• Groups of 10+ adults: **10% discount**
• Valid for up to **92 days**, including multiple entries
• Cover includes emergency medical treatment, medical evacuation, repatriation and lost luggage
• Insurance can be purchased online before travel or at the point of entry.
There are exemptions, including Tanzanian residents, holders of valid work or residence permits, members of the Tanzanian diaspora, diplomats, transit passengers, and residents of EAC or SADC Partner States.
