Increased competition seems to boost Swissport’s business, not dent it

SWISSPORT PROFITS RISE BY NEARLY 80 PERCENT

(Posted 09th March 2015)

Swissport Tanzania last week announced a rise in profits of some 78 percent, driven by an uprise in business and a combination of cost control and improved productivity.

The company is Tanzania’s leading ground handling company with predominant bases in Dar es Salaam and at Kilimanjaro International Airport and it appears that increased competition – the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority has in the recent past licensed several other service providers – has not dented the financial result of the market leader.

Revenues in 2014 according to information received reached nearly 45 billion Tanzania Shillings driving the share price of Swissport – a company listed at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange – up by some 6 percent since the start of the year.

The company continues to invest in facilities like warehousing and a new cargo terminal but also new and more cost efficient equipment to handle aircraft while on the ground.
