Tourism Promotional Authorities of the islands of Reunion and Seychelles move to work even closer together

Willy Etheve, the new CEO of IRT, short for Ile de la Reunion Tourisme, earlier this week met with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture in the presence of Bernadette Honore, the representative of the Seychelles Tourism Board Office in Reunion and Pascal Viroleau, the CEO of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands.

Reunion Islands is known for its spectacular mountains and an active volcano, the Piton de la Fournaise. The island has often been referred to as the Switzerland of the Indian Ocean and has for a long time been combining efforts with the Seychelles and its picture perfect white sandy beaches and turquoise blue seas.

At the St. Denis meeting in Reunion this week the decision to intensify the existing cooperation in the field of marketing.

As but one example will the Marketing Executives of IRT, the Reunion Tourism Board, again be joining their Seychelles counterpart at the December Marketing Meeting in Seychelles and in June 2017 for the mid-year marketing meeting. The Seychellois Team will in turn travel to Reunion to attend similar strategy meetings there. ‘This will ensure that the two teams know the destinations well as they sit together to prepare strategies to sell the destination’ said Minister St.Ange when summarizing the meeting results for the media.

Other points discussed will see Didier Robert, the Regional President of Reunion and French Senator for the island and Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles meet at the coming Top Resa French Tourism Trade Fair for joint meetings with key tourism partners amongst many other points raised.

Both tourism boards have been active to promote cruise and cruise and fly tourism into this part of the Indian Ocean and with two direct flights by Air Austral between Reunion and the Seychelles can island hopping finally become a reality.
