Indian Ocean Tourism Organization seeks to update travel industry about scope and purpose

ZANZIBAR BASED ‘IOTO‘ BEGINS TO WORK ON 2022 INDIAN OCEAN TOURISM MART EVENT

The Indian Ocean Tourism Organization was officially registered on May 06th, 2021 by the Registrar of Societies, Business Entities Registration Act No. 12 of 2012, under The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, with its Registration no. Z0000109845 and is headquartered in Zanzibar.

The new organization, a non-governmental and non-profit organization, was established to unite and visibly integrate 37 Member States & Island Nations comprising Australia, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, France, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Madagascar, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Reunion, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Yemen & any other Countries/Island Nations within the Indian Ocean, with its headquarters based on the Island of Zanzibar.

The Indian Ocean Tourism Organization is part of the Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) Tourism Organizations Group, under the auspicious of the United Nations High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UNOHRLLS), along with its partners, ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA), Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) & Pacific Tourism Organization (SPTO).

Rethinking old systems & embracing new ones, the Indian Ocean Tourism Organization retains its own extraordinary intellectual properties, committed to reinvigorating economies of its Member States and Island Nations wholly dependent on tourism, curate unique content specifically for its destinations, while simultaneously establishing an unprecedented ecosystem for social entrepreneurs presenting tourism ideas, innovation and solutions improving the Industry and its accompanying economic-clusters; as well as advocating social and human development across its Member States & Island Nations.

The future of tourism in the Indian Ocean requires a fundamental and profound shift in how tourism should work, transforming tourism’s impact on nature and people by working alongside local communities, protecting Island Nations from the severity of climate change and the deployment of an arsenal of creativity, innovation and solutions developing sustainable models aiding economic, environmental and social impact are just a few of the avant-garde propositions for Indian Ocean Tourism Organization.

The development of a regional movement establishing purpose, priorities & principles harnessing existing structures & concepts building Social Travel Enterprises & Creative Tourism Marketplaces ecosystem within the Indian Ocean has been launched and readers should express their interest being part of the Tourism Working Groups comprising of various economic clusters complimenting travel and tourism at info@indianoceanto.org

Under the auspices of Indian Ocean Tourism Organization, the Indian Ocean Tourism Mart would be launched in 2022 as the largest Incentive Travel Trade MICE & Tourism Show within the Indian Ocean, held simultaneously / alongside the Indian Ocean Tourism Games to accelerate the development and growth of sports tourism within the wider Indian Ocean region.
