It is all about good food next week in Nairobi as #NRW2015 goes underway

NAIROBI RESTAURANT WEEK SET TO SHOWCASE CULINARY DELIGHTS

(Posted 16th January 2015)

The Kenyan capital Nairobi is gearing up to the annual Nairobi Restaurant Week which this year will kick off on the 22nd of January. Nairobi is the acknowledged leader in the region as far as ethnic food variety is concerned. The city offers the arguably widest range of restaurants and eateries across East Africa and the inaugural Nairobi Restaurant Week 2014 taken the city by storm with many looking forward to this year’s second edition. More than 50 restaurants are participating in the event which runs until Sunday 01st February. Top names like the Nairobi Serena, the Villa Rosa Kempinski, the InterContinental Hotel, The Dusit, the Tribe Hotel, The Fairmont Norfolk and of course the Sarova Stanley, among many others, join top restaurants like Mediterraneo, Haandi, Dolce Vita, Anghiti or Mambo Italia, where in fact a lunch goes for as little as just 1.000 Kenya Shillings.

Last year was a big success and this year more restaurants are participating. Some of the leading hotels are on board again and a meal goes for either 1.500 Kenya Shillings or 2.000 Kenya Shillings per person. This is exceptional value for money really and visitors from abroad can sample what they fancy alongside us locals. Every taste is catered for and in some hotels several of their restaurants participate. It is such events which help us to promote for instance city visits to Nairobi from Uganda or Rwanda. I wish our airlines could offer special weekend fares to get more regional visitors. They can visit the national park during the day, can attend the horse races at Ngong and in between enjoy excellent meals in the participating venues’ wrote a regular Nairobi based tourism source.
