WATAMU TRIATHLON SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

The annual Watamu Triathlon held at the Turtle Bay Beach Club, is set to take place this weekend. A special children’s event will be launched on Saturday 05th of April while the main event for adults will take place on Sunday 06th of April. The adult race will include a swim of 1.5 kilometres, a bike race over a 40 kilometre distance and a 10 kilometre run, in line with Olympic norms, while a special ‘sprint’ event will offer 50 percent shorter distances for those who prefer that.
This is one of many similar events which are now organized across Kenya to draw in locals and the expatriate community into a more active lifestyle while at the same time being able to explore the country’s main attractions including the beaches.
Main organizers are HNA Sports, which also run the annual H&A Ngong Forest Challenge as well as the H&A Kakamega Forest Duathlon, which they organize in conjunction with the Lake Victoria Tourism Association.
