In July 1960, aged 26, Goodall traveled from England to what is now Tanzania and ventured into the little-known world of wild chimpanzees.” Her research in Gombe led us to completely rethink “man’s closest relative.”

Her organisation, the Jane Goodall Institute, was key in setting up Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Lake Victoria, off the shores of Entebbe / Uganda, currently celebrating its 25th anniversary.
