KENYA AIRWAYS GEARING UP TO RECEIVE 3 MORE JETS
(Posted 27th July 2013)
Chris Diaz, Director of Marketing at Kenya Airways, confirmed on the sidelines of the just ended Hotel Summit East Africa, where he was one of the keynote speakers and presenters, that the Pride of Africa is on course to expand their present fleet of 44 aircraft, which includes three freighters, by another 3 aircraft before the end of the year. Due for delivery in August is another Embraer E190 jet, followed within weeks by another model of the same type, before in November a brand new B777 will join the fleet, adding capacity for the upcoming high tourist season which traditionally starts in December and last through to Easter.
He also confirmed that destination 62, Blantyre, Malawi’s commercial capital, will shortly be launched while revealing that UNWTO had made Kenya Airways the official airline for the UNWTO General Meeting taking place next month between the cities of Livingstone / Zambia and Victoria Falls / Zimbabwe. ‘When we launched the flights to Livingstone recently it was already with the UNWTO meeting in mind. But in addition, Livingstone is a city which tourists want to reach directly and we at Kenya Airways can connect them from Nairobi. This opens the option for multi country safari holidays in Africa’ did Chris say to this correspondent at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre yesterday.
Chris also hinted at what he called ‘magnificent’ new lounges at the upcoming Terminal 4, which is under construction at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, giving rise to hope of a sneak preview as Kenya Airways seeks to propel lounge comfort into the 21st century with what Chris let on will be state of the art facilities for Kenya Airways and their partner airline passengers, second to none in Africa. Watch this space comes to mind!
