Kenya has moved to an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system for many visitors. That means travelers may no longer be applying for a traditional visa, but they still need to complete the required entry authorization before travel.
A few key reminders:
Visitors may need an approved eTA before the trip begins
Passports generally need at least 6 months validity and one blank page
Business travelers need supporting docs, including invitation letters
Processing is typically listed at 3 working days, but delays can happen
The requirement should be checked before ticketing and departure
For corporate travel, NGO travel, group travel, and safari programs, Kenya is a perfect example of why “visa-free” can be a rather misleading phrase and the outcome of ignoring existing entry requirement can be a real party spoiler. .
Remember, no visa does not always mean no paperwork or the need to comply with other, similar requirements which must be fulfilled prior to travel.
Be sure you check all currently existing entry requirements, eTAs, passports and any and all documentation issues before they disrupt the trip.
