Kenya set to launch a National Convention Bureau

BALALA GIVES PROVISIONAL NOD TO THE SET UP OF A NATIONAL CONVENTION BUREAU

Kenya’s Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala yesterday received the keenly awaited report about the setting up of a national convention bureau when he received the task force responsible for studying the feasibility and viability of such a new organization.
It is understood that Mr. Balala did give a provisional thumbs up to the report which he said would be studied in detail by his ministry before moving into the implementation phase.
The Cabinet Secretary also said: ‘MICE is the next tourism frontier and Kenya must aggressively take up this line of tourism. The implementation of the Task Force report will, therefore, assist to ensure that Kenya is indeed an ideal tourist destination, catering for all types of tourism ventures‘.
The Task Force was chaired by Ms. Tasneem Adamji and its members included Mr. J.S Vohra, Charles Campbell-Clause, Ann Murungi, Jeffers Miruka, Mohammed Abdi Abdullahi, Vickie Muyanga and Mahmud Janmohamed and notably met their two months deadline to present their findings.
The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied at the meeting by the ministry’s Principal Secretary, Dr. Fatuma Hirsi Mohamed and other senior Ministry officials.
