Kenya very much still got what it takes to be a top ranked destination

SUN AFRICA HOTELS SWEEPS THE BOARD AT ‘WORLD LUXURY HOTEL AWARDS

(Posted 25th October 2015)

The annual ‘World Luxury Hotel Awards’, held this year at the Harbour Grand Hotel in Hong Kong, once again proved to be a source of multiple trophies for Kenya’s Sun Africa Hotels. Rahul Sood, Group CEO of the company, was at hand to receive a staggering five trophies this year including ‘Best Luxury Hotel Management Company’ for Africa for the second year running.

The individual awards started with the group’s luxurious boutique all-suite hotel in Limuru outside Nairobi, the Sovereign Suites, before extending to the Lake Naivasha based Kiboko Luxury Camp. Masai Mara Sun Keekorok Lodge reclaimed the trophy it had received on previous occasions and Sun Africa’s latest venture, reviewed here by this correspondent earlier this year ahead of the official opening, the Sun Africa Beach Resort in Nyali / Mombasa, was voted as the best new luxury hotel in Kenya.

Having stayed repeatedly in the past at the Sovereign Suites, equally reviewed before the official opening and then again at subsequent stays, as well as the Kiboko Luxury Camp, can it only be concluded that the judges and voters shared the sentiments of this correspondent who experienced close up and personal the level of attention lavished on guests by the staff of these small but very fine hotels, lodges and resorts. Needless to say does the food in all aspects match these awards, in terms of quality, presentation and service.

After the just concluded Magical Kenya Travel Expo in Diani, where Group CEO Rahul Sood also made an appearance at their stand, is this five trophy haul another feather in the cap of not just Sun Africa Hotels but of Kenya as a destination, underscoring the level of hospitality tourist visitors can expect when coming for safaris and beach vacations.

Kenya’s various new marketing initiatives and slogans like #WhyILoveKenya and #MakeItKenya no doubt will get an extra boost ahead of the upcoming World Travel Market in London, with such award winners among the ranks of some 50 companies attending the tourism trade fair to promote the country.
