Kenyan hospitality businesses show renewed confidence

SUN AFRICA HOTELS CONFIRMS PLANS TO REBUILD THE LAKE BARINGO CLUB

(Posted 25th August 2015)

The Lake Baringo Club of Sun Africa Hotels, submerged like a number of other lakeside properties when the lake levels started to rise three years ago, is according to the company’s Group CEO Mr. Rahul Sood being rebuilt, naturally above the present high water mark. The new property will according to the information provided by him feature 25 rooms of 5 star standards while the former Lake Baringo Club had nearly twice as many keys. Lake Baringo is one of Kenya’s main bird watching areas and the loss of several lodges and tented camps impacted heavily on tourists’ abilities to stay overnight, enjoy the lake and advance their bird sightings while in Kenya.

Meanwhile has the hotel group also confirmed that work is now rapidly advancing on their new 5 star Nairobi property which will be known as the Sun Africa Nairobi Hotel. With 120 rooms and suites, banqueting and conference facilities, is the hotel expected to make an immediate impact on Nairobi’s hospitality scene when it opens in 2016. The new hotel will cater for both business and leisure clients and no doubt be able to support the company’s lodge circuit of Keekorok Safari Lodge, the Lake Naivasha Country Club, the Kiboko Luxury Camp and the new Lake Baringo Club when it is ready next year.

Also due for an official opening is the Sun Africa Beach Resort in Nyali, now set for the 01st of September. The resort has been operating under ‘soft’ conditions for several months and with business for the Kenya coast now markedly on the rise again will offer new options for tourists and locals alike when they visit Mombasa.

In a related development was the company’s Group CEO Rahul Sood nominated for the 2015 Hozpitality Excellence Awards as the only nominee coming from Africa. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/?sm=T5v1EAzHOvP4C0noaWWE6VLAJu64U6JW6kG3wp%2br6lo%3d
