JAMBOJET PASSES #IATA’S OPERATIONAL SAFETY AUDIT

Information has come in from Nairobi that Jambojet, the low fare subsidiary of Kenya Airways, has passed the IOSA audit, a key requirement for airlines around the world in this day and age.
It is only the second airline to pass this audit in Kenya, although Safarilink – a beach and bush airline operating out of Wilson Airport – has been safety certified under the same principles under a scheme available for smaller airlines.
Jambojet, out of its Nairobi base at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, presently flies to domestic destinations in Kenya such as Mombasa, Ukunda, Malindi, Eldoret and Kisumu but also serves Entebbe in Uganda with two daily flights.
Jambojet also operates flights, on behalf of Kenya Airways, to Bujumbura in Burundi after authorities there withdrew their objections some time ago.
The airline is intent to widen their regional network but has been struggling to attain landing rights at regional airports even though the company was licensed by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Transport to fly to such destinations like Mogadishu, Kigali, Dar es Salaam and Addis Ababa.

Their destination reach is probably not suited for such operations nor is their aircraft type, being a relatively small turboprob with very limited cargo space.
