(Posted 11th September 2019)

Aviation, tourism and hospitality stakeholders from across Zimbabwe have assembled in the country’s second largest city, Bulawayo, to take part in the annual Sanganai / Hlanganani World Tourism Expo.

On the sidelines of the exhibition did earlier today a special event already take place at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre, when a day long Tourism Research Conference discussed ways and means to bridge the gap between the academia and tourism practitioners.

Foreign tourism boards represented this year at Sanganai are from Angola, Nigeria, Malawi, Ghana, Botswana, South Africa’s KwaZulu Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces and India.

Besides Fastjet (Z) and Air Zimbabwe are Ethiopian Airlines, Air Namibia, Air Botswana, Air Tanzania and Kenya Airways represented at Sanganai, all vying for the increasing number of tourists planning to come to the country either on a stand alone vacation or in combination with a visit to Zambia or other neighbouring countries.

Notably will key Zimbabwe government departments and bodies be at Sanganai, to interact with the tourism fraternity and discuss how formalities can be eased in order to facilitate a stronger tourism growth.
Among these are the Zimbabwe Civil Aviation Authority, the Department of Immigration, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe but also National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe, National Railways and Parks and Wildlife Management Authority among others.

Tourism stakeholders in attendance, who have been in touch with ATCNews, have expressed their confidence that the appeal of Zimbabwe’s natural attractions, ease of access through vastly improved air connections and a friendly Visa regime – including the UniVisa with Zambia – will trump negative reporting in sections of the Western media and Sanganai 2019 will be a springboard for a further rise in arrival numbers for the country.

Sanganai / Hlanganani 2019 will kick off in the morning at 09.00 hrs and extend over the next three days.
