KwaZulu-Natal’s elephant population is at the centre of a growing conservation dilemma. Authorities warn that failure to act could trigger an ecological collapse and controversial measures. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has issued an urgent appeal to help relocate surplus elephants from five parks in the province. The conservation body says all the parks have exceeded their capacity, with three having reached their estimated maximum capacity as early as 2014.
