Kwita Izina given a fixed date every year as naming ceremony shifted to 02nd September

FIRST FRIDAY IN SEPTEMBER SET ASIDE FOR FUTURE KWITA IZINA EVENTS

(Posted 30th March 2016)

In a development which has been murmured about for the past couple of days has the Rwandan government now given the annual naming of the new born gorillas its own dedicated day, being the first Friday of September.
This shifts the earlier date given by usually reliable sources to the 02nd of September.
The regional integration means that such dates must be set well in advance and should be more or less the same. September and October are busy months with trade shows and tourism events across the region. It is good that finally Kwita Izina got its own fixed date, first Friday in September, which now allows everyone to plan ahead for years to come‘ added another source confirming that the new date will now be the one to plan for.
Presently does the number of young born gorillas stand at 19 for the 2016 event, which will as usual take place in Kinigi outside the town of Musanze at the regular showground near the park headquarters.
Travel to the event is easy as RwandAir connects the entire region to Kigali while from there it is less than three hours by road to Musanze. Again, bookings for thos intending to participate should be done as soon as possible as the Kwita Izina weekend normally sees the available hotel, lodge and guest rooms booked up in no time.
