July Edition 2022 This month we celebrate the achievements of the Mukogodo Forest Association and its Members WALK WILD Promoting Ecotourism and Landscape Restoration in the Mukogodo Forest ILMAMUSI is organizing a “Walk Wild” event involving at least 500 people comprising of men, youth and women to create awareness and solicit for local support for landscape restoration and tourism in Mukogodo ecosystem. Article continues here MUKOGODO’S PARTICIPATORY FOREST MANAGEMENT PLAN UPDATE ILMAMUSI is reviewing its elapsed forest management plan. Support for the activity comes from the Laikipia Conservancies Association. The plan is expected to provide more opportunities for the creation and expansion of bio enterprises in the forest and help the CFA market its ecotourism activities within the Forest. Article continues here WATER AT LAST Restoration Initiative Partners Join Hands to Improve Water Supply Community members from Lekurruki/Sieku, Il Ngwesi, Makurian, and Kuri Kuri have a reason to smile after the successful rehabilitation of 5 water projects within the Mukogodo landscape. Article continues here “DUPOTO” – SOON A HOUSEHOLD NAME FOR COMMERCIAL HONEY IN LAIKIPIA Dupoto sees honey sales as an income generator, a tool for local livelihoods, an incentive for forest conservation, and as a peace-keeping ingredient – bringing together our collective good intentions of peace and prosperity in the Forest. Article continues here MICRO CATCHMENTS Saving the Land A total of 3700 semi-circular bunds were established in an area of 115 acres at Lekurruki and Il Ngwesi conservancies. 30 casuals, selected members of the grazing committees from both conservancies, and 4 rangeland supervisors were trained by a team from Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust ….
