The past few decades has seen golf tourism gain popularity in Africa. South Africa has created the very successful Sunshine Tour and now hosts two events on the European tour.
The Morocco Golf Open is the European Tour Trophee Hassan II Golf Championship and in the latest development has the Kenya Golf Championship become part of the full European Tour event.
Uganda can be hopeful to also host Professional Tour events now given the imminent launch at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa of a fully-fledged 18-hole golf course.
This one of a kind golf course in Uganda – the first of its kind in the country – has been designed to PGA standards, offering a challenging layout for the ever-evolving golfer looking for an enjoyable golfing experience. In order to grow the talent pool of golf in the region, every April and August, the golf club hosts bi-annual children’s golf camp for young aspiring golfers.

On the 6th of October, will the Serena Johnnie Walker Open be the inaugural tournament on the just completed 18-hole golf course which is co-sponsored by Barclays Bank and Serena Hotels. With the upgrade from previously 9 holes to a full championship 18 hole course will the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa now be able to host international tournaments.
