Lamu tourism stakeholders welcome new airlink

SKYWARD SET TO LAUNCH WILSON – MOMBASA – LAMU FLIGHTS

(Posted 18th October 2016)

Lamu’s hoteliers have expressed their excitement over news that Skyward, a Wilson based airline, will soon launch flights via Mombasa to Lamu.
This will be the first available scheduled flight connection in more recent years linking not just Nairobi but also Mombasa with the archipelago, adding more seats and allowing Mombasa residents to fly nonstop to Manda Airport.
The airline operates a Fokker 50 and is set to acquire a Dash 8, providing enough seat capacity. On the route from Mombasa to Lamu and back will Skyward by the look of it be the only scheduled operator though on the sectors from Wilson to Mombasa and the route from Wilson to Lamu other more established airlines like Safarilink, Air Kenya, Kenya Airways and Jambojet out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport will no doubt offer stiff competition for the new kid on the block to break into the market.
No launch fares could be obtained at this stage but will be provided as soon as the details are available.
