Manda Airport has reached a defining new milestone, welcoming a Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737-800 series aircraft, which touched down at 10:14 a.m. while also receiving international flights for the first time in its history.
The landmark moment saw Manda Airport welcome five international flights from Nigeria, Ethiopia and Uganda, alongside an impressive lineup of aircraft, including the Gulfstream G500 and G600, Embraer Legacy 600 and Global Express 900, among others.
Among the key arrivals was Uganda’s President H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Manda Airport, the gateway to Lamu, welcomed H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, this morning ahead of today’s groundbreaking ceremony for the East African Oil Refinery.
His Excellency was received by Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Mr. Davis Chirchir, KAA MD/CEO Mr. Moses Wekesa, senior government officials and other distinguished guest.
With its 2 kilometre-long and 30 metre-wide runway, Manda continues to demonstrate its growing capacity and strategic importance as Lamu’s gateway to Kenya, Africa and the world.
This is more than an aircraft landing. It is Lamu taking off onto the global stage.
