TANAPA MOURNS THE LOSS OF ANTI POACHING BOSS
(Posted 23rd December 2015)
Rank and file at TANAPA, the Tanzania National Park Authority, were shocked to learn of the untimely death of Mr. Emily Kisamo, who played a key role in his position in the anti poaching force of the organization.
Mr. Kisamo was found murdered in the boot of his car a few days ago, which had been ditched not too far from his official residence, which TANAPA provides to senior staff.
It is understood that two family members are being held in connection with the murder to help police in their investigations. TANAPA is yet to issue an official statement on this incident though some staff have been in touch with this correspondent asking for the news to be told so that Kisamo’s friends across the region could learn of his untimely passing. There has been no immediate suggestion that the murder was in any way linked to the work Kisamo was engaged in though a conservation source from Arusha pointed out that the unfolding investigation will look into any and all possible motives without ruling in or out any connection.
TANAPA is expected to announce funeral arrangements just as soon as the body is released by the authorities after a post mortem has been carried out by government pathologists.
Kisamo had enjoyed a solid career in wildlife management and was at one time posted in Nairobi where he worked at the regional office of the Lusaka Task Force, a group dedicated to wildlife protection in Africa.
Condolences are expressed to the late Kisamo’s family, friends and his colleagues at TANAPA.
