This fivesome of awards for Serena Hotels builds on similar recognition over the past few years already and Uganda’s tourism establishment at both Ministry of Tourism and the Uganda Tourism Board in particular are reportedly pleased that the country was put on the map of the World Travel Awards, courtesy of Serena’s success to have two Ugandan properties named at the just concluded award ceremony held at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort on the main island of Mahe.

At hand to receive the awards were Anthony Chege, General Manager of the Kampala Serena and Country Manager for Serena Hotels in Uganda, Charles Muia, General Manager of the Kigali Serena and Daniel Kangu, General Manager of the Nairobi Serena Hotel.

Mr. Mahmud Janmohamed, Managing Director and CEO of Serena Hotels said upon the announcement: ‘The recognition for excellence is indeed an honor in itself and we are very proud to receive these 5 awards. The awards confirm that our strategy to invest on an ongoing basis, in both our hardware – the physical product and our software – our human resources continues to pay dividends. To all those travel professionals who voted for us we would like to say, thank you for valuing us as highly as we value you. Your faith in us will continue to be rewarded. To our staff, we would also like to offer a big ‘thank you’, because we know that it is entirely thanks to your unwavering dedication and loyalty that we have been fortunate enough to have attained the various accolades’.

In a related development was it also confirmed to this correspondent that the Lake Victoria Serena Resort & Spa’s golf course will by August this year open with initially nine holes, going to a full 18 holes a few months later. The clubhouse in the sprawling estate on the shores of Lake Victoria is nearing completion as is the marina, making this Serena resort the most complete in the entire group as far as sporting facilities are concerned. The resort can be reached off the main highway from the Entebbe International Airport to Kampala.
