FASTJET PLC APPOINTS NEW NON-EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN

(Posted 15th September 2015)

Information was received that Fastjet PLC has appointed Mr. Colin Child as their new non-executive Chairman, replacing Mr. Clive Carver who had served as interim Chairman of the Board of Directors since April this year.

Clive will remain a non-executive Director on the Board when Colin takes up his new appointment on the 01st of October.

The new Chairman of the Board of Fastjet PLC has extensive experience in the financial field and is broadly seen as a valuable addition on board level to keep the company, which has been making losses since its inception, on the straight and narrow. Trained as a Chartered Accountant he has extensive knowledge of international growth businesses and more than 20 years’ experience as a director of listed companies including, most recently, as Group Finance Director of De La Rue Plc from 2010 to July 2015. Colin was also a Non-Executive Director at Rank Group Plc from 2011 to March 2014 where he was Chairman of the Audit Committee and Nominations Committee as well as the Senior Independent Director. Colin’s previous roles include Group Finance Director of DTZ Holdings plc, Stanley Leisure plc and Fitness First Plc.

Ed Winter, Chief Executive Officer of Fastjet, said when making the announcement: ‘Colin brings with him valuable and highly relevant experience to fastjet which will enable him to make a significant contribution to the Board and the strategic direction of the business. On behalf of the entire Board, I would like to thank Clive Carver for providing invaluable guidance and support to the Company while acting as Interim Chairman’.

Colin Child himself commented on his appointment by adding: ‘I am delighted to be joining the fastjet Board. With a growing fleet and developing route network, this is an exciting time in the Company’s development and I look forward to working with Ed and the rest of the Board as the Company expands across Africa and pursues its strategic goals’.
