#ETHIOPIANAIRLINES TO SECOND FOUR SHORT / MEDIUM HAUL AIRCRAFT TO NEW AIRLINE IN GHANA

Information has come to light that the new partnership between Ghana and Ethiopian Airlines will result in the secondment of up to four short and medium haul aircraft of Bombardier / Viking Q400 and Boeing B737 make.
Once all regulatory hurdles have been taken, such as attaining an AOC, short for air operator certificate, will Ethiopian also have key staff attached to the new airline to ensure that their winning formula back home in Addis Ababa can be implemented in Accra too.
While the Ghana government will initially own 51 percent of the airline – Ethiopian will take up a 49 percent share – is it expected that institutional investors from Ghana will at a later stage begin to acquire some of the government held shares to spread the ownership, and risk, more evenly.
