AT LEAST 25 PEOPLE KILLED IN SECOND CAR BOMB ATTACK IN TWO WEEKS IN CENTRAL MOGADISHU

At least 25 people lost their lives yesterday when another car bomb and subsequent shootout in central Mogadishu took place.
The Hotel Nasa Hablod was the scene this time, not far from the former parliament building where a second car bomb was said to have exploded not much afterwards.
Reports from Mogadishu suggest the bombing targeted a security meeting held at the hotel. Besides the suicide bomber were five more terrorists involved in the attack, three of whom were killed by security forces while two were captured alive.
In the 15th of October bombing, the largest ever seen in the Somali capital, at least 358 people were killed while dozens more are still reported missing and hundreds more suffered at times horrific injuries.
Calls have of late become louder again to boost troop numbers in Somalia and retake territories still under control by Al Shabaab while at the same time establishing an effective green zone in the capital to ensure the safety and security of government institutions and facilities but also of the people living in there.
The lack of security in Somalia is generally seen as a threat to the entire Eastern African region and the recent rise in successful and attempted acts of piracy is evidence of this threat also to the sea lanes crucially important for imports and exports along the Eastern seaboard of Africa.
