New travel show aims to open new horizons

THE ‘AFRICA TRAVEL SHOW 2015’ SET FOR EARLY MARCH IN NAIROBI

(Posted 17th January 2015)

The Oshwal Centre in Nairobi’s second business hub of Westlands will provide the setting for the inaugural ‘Africa Travel Show’ which is due to take place between the 04th and 08th of March this year. The exhibition is timed perfectly to showcase Kenya’s tourism attractions ahead of the traditional low season period between 01st of April until the end of June during which beach resorts and safari lodges often offer spectacularly discounted tariffs for Kenyans, East Africans and expatriates living in the region.

The new show is a private sector initiative aiming bring together the key businesses from the hospitality and travel trade to showcase their services to a wide audience from across the country, the East African region and beyond.

Said the organizers, SmartMice Ltd. in a mail when making enquiries about the event: ‘The Africa Travel Show 2015 offers a multitude of benefits to all exhibitors and include National and Regional Tourist Organisations; Tour Operators; Travel Agents; Hotels and Hotel Chains; Health Spas and Resorts; Adventure Tourism; Airlines; Car Rentals; Guides; and Travel Accessories and Equipment to enhance travel and tourism experiences. The event is aimed at showcasing Kenya’s Tourism internationally.’

What is clear that with the current trend of tourism arrivals from overseas markets has the domestic and regional market gained renewed importance and shows like ‘The Africa Travel Show’ give locals and expatriates in the region the best insight of what is on offer and where one can go, either treading the beaten paths or going off to discover new places, of which plenty exist in Kenya.

I did not know about www.Silole.com for instance until I read about it on your blog. Your stories about Ol Pejeta, though that one is well known, inspired me to go there and I was not disappointed. I now follow KenyaBuzz, Going Places and others because I learnt about those publications from you. The Sarit Centre Show and Magical Kenya, those are now must visit events to find out where next I can go with my family, what is on, what is happening. The more such events we have, the better we know how to holiday in our own country’ wrote a periodic expatriate contributor when told of the upcoming travel show in Nairobi.

More information about the new travel show can be sourced via www.smartmice.net and as the saying goes, watch this space for regular updates as the exhibitor numbers swell and the actual dates of the ‘Africa Travel Show 2015’ draw nearer.

  1. A new exhibition like this – why should it cost almost double what some of the other Tourism shows at Sarit etc cost?
