CITES SECRETARIAT and

….STANDING COMMITTEE?

HOW MANY MORE PRECIOUS ANIMALS WILL BE SLAUGHTERED BEFORE CHINA AND VIETNAM

ARE SANCTIONED BY CITES?

HOW MUCH LONGER IS THE STANDING COMMITTEE PREPARED

TO TURN A BLIND EYE TO IT ALL?

Why not check out who these people are? http://www.cites.org/eng/com/sc/member.php

Will the CITES Standing Committee members look into the eyes of their children and confess they had the opportunity

to save the elephants, rhinos, tigers, etc, but not the courage and moral fibre to sanction the countries very clearly and heavily involved in the illegal wildlife trade?

In Vietnam, Rampant Wildlife Smuggling Prompts Little Concern. EXTRACT: “After China, Vietnam is the next port of call in terms of where to look to figure out what’s going on with wildlife trade,” said Dan Challender, a co-chairman of the pangolin specialist group at the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Vietnam is also a significant consumer of wildlife, especially those yielding the ingredients for traditional medicine, such as rhino horn, which is used to treat everything from cancer to hangovers. The exotic meats of rare animals are seen as luxuries by a rising middle class eager to advertise its prosperity. http://www.adn.com/article/20150401/vietnam-rampant-wildlife-smuggling-prompts-little-concern

WHY IS VIETNAM STILL ALLOWED TO BE

A MEMBER OF CITES?

WHAT A DEAL?

Unarmed rangers useless to helpless wildlife: Expert. SABAH/MALAYSIA: "The biggest problem in wildlife conservation is that usually there aren’t enough rangers, and the authorities aren’t spending enough to do enforcement on the ground," she told The Star. Poaching is widespread in Malaysia, with pygmy elephants, sun bears and green turtles among some of the species under threat. ( NA COMMENT: For years we have been highlighting to Sabah’s government the need for more law enforcement, but it falls on deaf ears.) http://www.dailyexpress.com.my/news.cfm?NewsID=98629

BABY ELEPHANTS STOLEN FROM THEIR MOTHERS AND NOW BEHIND BARS – THANKS TO CHINA. ARE YOU SICK AND TIRED OF CHINA’S CRUELTY TOWARDS WILDLIFE?

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

WE KNOW PLENTY OF NGO’S WHO HAVE NOT LIFTED A FINGER TO HELP THESE BABY ELEPHANTS. DISGRACEFUL, ISN’T IT?

ALMOST ALL ARE THOSE WHO SPEND THEIR TIME AND YOUR MONEY ATTENDING ENDLESS CONFERENCES.
