No lesson learned from last year as Jambojet again suffers aircraft trouble

JAMBOJET AND THE FESTIVE SEASON MEANS DRAMA GALORE FOR PASSENGERS – AGAIN

Just like a year ago, when Jambojet was caught up in a social media s*** storm of the highest order when cancellations and delays hit the airline as a result of technical problems and not having enough aircraft available to uplift ticketed and paid for passengers, so has bad fortune struck again.
Only an hour ago did the airline eventually put out a statement, a day after their Facebook timeline came under sustained critique from stranded passengers. Again one must question the level of support the airline’s Corporate Communications and PR department was extending, if at all, to their overwhelmed colleagues in operations as it took them nearly a day to draft and publish their response in mitigation.
One Shefali Kapre went on a prolonged exchange with them with only one lacklustre response:

Fly Jambojet We understand the frustration caused and humbly apologize for the inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, the aircraft serving the NBO-MBA route had a technical issue that caused the multiple delays. We communicated to all the passengers on the contacts provided at booking. We’re working round the clock to ensure our passengers get to their destination as soon as possible.

Shefali Khapre They boarded half the people who were supposed to leave at 3 pm to Mombasa at 8 pm in a small plane. They should have only boarded old people and people with children.. but they boarded other adults as well.. just chaos. (On purpose).

It may well be that like last year the CEO of the company will have to eat public humble pie while the accountable managers of Jambojet will probably have to face questioning by the Kenyan aviation regulator KCAA over this repeat of last year’s operational nightmares.
It could not be established to what extend line maintenance for the aircraft was available but given the recent labour action by some 150 staff of the parent corporation’s technical and engineering department it would not come as a surprise that the two issues could be linked.
