Nyali’s residents association launches new road sign project

MOMBASA’S NYALI SUBURB GETS NEW ROAD SIGNS

(Posted 18th February 2016)

On Monday the 15th February 2016, following weeks of preparations and approval seeking, NCRRA, short for North Coast Ratepayers and Residents Association, finally launched their much awaited initiative to install street name signposts around the sprawling upmarket neighbourhood. For those who visited Nyali based resorts during the 1970s, 80s and 90s this is somethingthey may still remember, even thought none of those old signposts remain today, perhaps with the exception of one or two.
A lot of thought went into the type of material to use, and we opted for the top part made of 14 gauge galvanized plate – reflective engineering grade (folded for reinforcement), the post in 2mm tubing and rust protecting high build primer paint with top gloss coat in black and white. Each post has a sticker of the logo of the approving authority (County Government of Mombasa) and the NCRRA logo with enough space to add the sponsor’s logo measuring 14cm by 60cm.

The first 2 signposts (as pictured below) have been funded by the association while the rest will be funded by sponsors/donors. NCRRA’s objective is to get as many roads as possible in Nyali well signposted by the end of this year and this can only be done with the support of members and corporate sponsors. It is expected that once the project has been completed will the street names make a swift appearance on both printed and electronic maps which will give tourists, coming out of their resorts to explore their neighbourhood away from the beaches, a clearer indication where they are and where they are heading to.

The launch event on Monday was covered by journalists from Pilipili 99.5 FM and attached is an audio clip of a brief interview with our Chairman & Vice Chair during the unveiling of the signpost on Greenwood Drive.
